PowerSchool and Math I: ~PowerSchool will be updated a minimum of once per week.
~ Helpful info for understanding the symbols in PS: 1. All Explore works (see student checklists by clicking on 'checklist' in any Unit posted) are 0/0 points and show up in PS as a green check-mark, an 'incomplete' or a 0. If a student receives a green check-mark, it means they mastered the work, an 'incomplete' means they are making modifications, and a 0 means they didn't complete the assignment.
2. All assignments are titled as follows: the Unit number, followed by a letter, followed by the category it fall in on the checklist (example- 0A, 1A, 1B, etc-for exact assignment names, please look at the checklist posted in each Unit or in student's notebook)
3. All Expand works are an informal percentage in PS. Students are required to earn an 80% or better on Expands before moving on to the Quick-Check.
4. Quick-Checks are mini assessments on each specific topic and are formal percentages in PS. Students are also required to earn an 80% or better before moving on to new concepts.
5. Students are required to complete three choice HW assignments each week. The idea is for students to choose a topic they need to practice, and then to choose the method in which they'd like to practice it (they can watch a video with guided notes, play a math game on the topic, do flashcards for math vocabulary, write a math journal from given prompts, or do practice problems). Homework will show up in PS as an informal percentage and is a completion grade.
6. Students are required to complete at least one Extend option each Cycle. These will show up as a formal percentage in PS.
7. Students will complete one project in math per cycle. These will show up as a formal percentage in PS.
8. Students may be exempt from assignments for a couple of reasons: 1. Students completed a pre-assessment that allowed them to move on to the next concept or 2. Students haven't gotten to that topic yet and a mark will show up in the next cycle.
9. Any blank spaces for assignments in PS mean one of two things: 1. The student hasn't gotten to that assignment yet or 2. I have not yet entered that mark or score (remember, PS is updated at minimum, once per week, so please encourage your adolescent to reach out if you have specific questions, and cc you on the email). The due dates in PS are for the end of the quarter since all students move at a different pace with math.
